Apollo Counseling is one of the first and only agencies in the Des Moines Metro area and Central Iowa to offer a comprehensive community and home skill based counseling program. Apollo utilizes funding through the state and other private resources to offer intervention and counseling in the home environment and the community. These services are offered to adults and children to assist in coping with mental health symptoms and major life stressors. This program offers a short term (minimum of 6 months) intervention period where a counselor meets with the adult, child, or family to help encourage healthy skill and relationship development. This is NOT the same as psychotherapy, although may be used in conjunction with psychotherapy with a licensed professional. All counselors are supervised by a licensed clinician to ensure ethical treatment practice and adherence. These services are typically funded by Medicaid, however anyone is eligible to receive these services privately. Apollo offers programs under the State of Iowa Waiver and Habilitation Services programs. Apollo works with clients, their families, and Targeted Case Managers to develop a special and individualized plan to support the highest level of autonomy and treatment possible. Apollo offers a unique approach to traditional services and believes strongly in the process of "real life" and "natural" consequences. Apollo works with the indivdiual and their team to ensure they are in the most safe environment that does not limite or restrict the individuals rights. Apollo also works with the individual and team to investigate and discover alternatives to traditional treatment and residential based models where many people fall through the cracks or struggle to succeed. Apollo offers a combination of supports and services to make sure that each person is supported in the best way possible while respecting their right to privacy.
