Remedial Services are a voluntary mental health service for adults, children, and families who have Title XIX (Medicaid) and have mental health needs. Remedial Services focus on providing in home and community based therapy to adults, children, as well as their families to assist in skill development and counseling support with the symptoms they may be experiencing. Group Counseling options are also provided through Remedial Services for both adults and children as well as Crisis intervention and other mental health support services.

Often times individuals who are receiving remedial services may also have a chronic mental health history or have been involved the child welfare system and may still be involved. It is important that Apollo Counseling work closely with any outside agencies involved in the adult and child's care to support and assist the individual and family in developing a strong support system to be successful with treatment of the mental health issues they face.


Those who qualify for remedial services:

• Currently enrolled in a Medicaid funded program and/or are eligible to enroll in Medicaid program with their family.
  
• Experience symptoms of a diagnosable mental health condition. This can be short term acute or life long and chronic. ie- anxiety, severe stress from major life disruptions and change, depression, mood disorders, personality disorders, behavioral issues, spectrum disorders, chronic mental health conditions.
  
• Willingness to meet with a qualified professional and case worker to develop a personalized plan for treatment.
  
• Schedule regular and consistent sessions in the privacy of your home, in the community, or other settings as necessary. This will be done with the highest level of discretion and care with complete respect to privacy and confidentiality.

Program Options Available

For Adults... (Ages 18 years old and up)

1:1 options
Apollo is one of only a handful of agencies offering Mental Health Supports to Adults through the Remedial Services program, and quite possibly the most experienced. Apollo's professionals and owner have several years experience working in adult counseling and service options including experience working with Targeted Case Management. Apollo's adult clients range from hardworking adults trying to balance life's demands of raising a family and working through stressfull times to young transitional teens aging out of the juvenile system into the adult mental health system. Apollo's adult services are also available and to those struggling with chronic and lifelong brain disorders who may also be receiving 24 hour support services through a Case Managed Service. Remedial Services can help with Crisis needs, support and behavioral interventions as well as supporting and improving the quality of life through symptom management.

Group counseling options
Apollo is one of the only approved agencies to offer the group program option for remedial services to adults. Apollo offers and intensive group program where adults ages 18 and up can work on individualized goals specific to their needs in a group environment. Some of the things that can be addressed through this program range from family stressors and coping, stress management, symptom management, psychoeducation about medication options and holisitic approaches, development of a personalized WRAP plan, mindfulness and environmental influences, techniques used in DBT (Dialectical Behavioral Therapy), and exploration through the use of Creative Arts Therapies.

For Children and Families... (Anyone under the age of 21)

Individualized 1:1 service options
Apollo offers all of the children's remedial service options:

• Individual Health and Behavior: 1:1 Skill development service with children to help adapt and develop appropriate coping and social skills to more effectively function in daily life with their mental health issue.
• Crisis Intervention: On-call Crisis services available for moments when the child and family have no other options for resolving a conflict or require emergency intervention. This may take place at home, in the community, at school for added support and other areas as designated by the family. The purpose of this service is to prevent further escalation and deterioration of relationships to avoid placement out of the home due to behavior and poor symptom management.
• Psychiatric Day Support: This is a daily service available to those children and families who are transitioning out of a placement or are at an heightened risk of placement out of the home in an institution or hospital. Psychiatric Day Support is not a skill development service, but rather a saftey and supervision service that can be used for drop in checks on the child and family, or all day support in the home if needed.
